Have a Life, Join a Life Group

Dennis Brown was correct in saying “No man is an island. No man stands alone.” From the beginning of time, when God made His most prized creation, He created for him a companion for it is not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18).

This is particularly true with our spiritual walk with God. There is an ongoing war waging in this world we currently live in, and it is spiritual in nature (Ephesians 6:11-12).

We have already won the battle of being “born again” of the spirit and, hopefully, have continued to wear the spiritual armor of God (Ephesians 6:13-18).

But the enemy is relentless and continues to attack God’s most treasured creation so he can take as much people away from Him (John 10:10, 1 Peter 5:8). And the enemy is particularly interested in those who have already repented and accepted Jesus as their Lord and savior, looking for openings for them to attack, so he can win them back. And it is a known fact that we can be weak when we are alone.

English actor and singer Mike Berry once said “There is strength in numbers and those numbers come in pounds.” This readily applies to armies in battle. If a single soldier tries to infiltrate an enemy camp, there is a big chance for him to fail his mission. But when he is accompanied by 2 or more able men, who thinks and acts as one unit, then surely they will easily accomplish their task. Each man will truly add strength to the unit and the enemy will have lesser chance of overcoming them. “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17).

Through God’s grace, we will also have the pleasure of having Him fight on our side. "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or more are gathered together in My Name, I am there in the midst of them." (Matthew 18: 19-20). So if God is now for us, who can be against us. (Romans 8:28-31)

So I urge you my brothers and sisters in faith to join a Life Group. Let us do as it is said in the bible: “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25).

Let us continue to live victorious lives in Christ Jesus. Have the Life!

VCF Zamboanga Blood Donation Drive

Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ! Our church is holding a blood letting drive on November 28, from 8am to 12pm at the VCF center.

Some of you may ask, “What does the church hope to achieve from this project?”

I’m sure most of the congregation has heard of stories from family members and friends, of how hard it is to get blood from hospitals and blood banks whenever there is a need. Some of our members may have even experienced this and can relate to such situations.

It’s expensive. It’s hard to find the right blood type. And the list goes on.

The church hopes to prevent our members in need from going through such hardships with this project.

Jesus' teachings on compassion give us reason to donate if we are able. Our love for fellow man should compel us to do what we are capable of.

We should prayerfully consider what God would have us do in regards to donating blood to help others (James 1:5; Philippians 4:6-7).

If we feel led to give blood, then there is no reason we should not.

Remember how Jesus gave His blood to the point of death, and had told His followers, "Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13).
